Course Overview

WSQ Perform Rigger and Signalman Tasks Course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and application skills to prepare rigging for safe lifting by any form of lifting equipment using correct signals to guide the crane operator in the maneuvering of a load safely from one location to another location.

 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be equipped with knowledge and application skills in carrying out rigger and signalman tasks to meet Workplace Safety and Health legislative requirements.

 

Target Participants

The course is designed for individuals who are to be appointed as Rigger or Signalman. This course is also prerequisite to attend WSQ Supervise Safe Lifting Operation Course for Lifting Supervisors.

 

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

The learners are assumed to:

·      Have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work

·      Be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 2

·      Be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 2

·      Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 2; and

·      Be medically fit

 

Learning Methodologies

Theory and practical lesson, individual/group learning activity, discussion on case studies, video show, written and practical assessment

Certification

Upon completion of the course and passing the written and practical assessment, a pass and Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued to the participant.
