Course Overview

Perform Fitting Works in Workshop is one of the elective units in the engineering services sector of the Process Industry. It specifies the skills and knowledge required by people to perform fitting works at the workplace.

 

Learning Objectives

n completion of this unit, learners will have the knowledge and skills to perform fitting works with hand tools and equipment in the workshop.

 

Target Participants

This course aims to provide people already workin

g or wishing to enter the process industry with the skills and knowledge required to perform fitting works in the workshop. It is also targeted at individuals who are currently operators or technicians from the following sub-sectors:

 

·      Plant Construction

·      

Plant Equipment Maintenance

The competency unit would be appropriate for those with operational responsibilities.

 

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

The assumed skills and knowledge for this unit are listed below:

·      have received safety training related to a process plant

·      be able to follow written and oral work instructions of lead fitter or supervisor

·      be able to interpret basic technical drawings and blueprints

·      be able to listen, read, speak, and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS) level 2

·      be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 2
