Course Overview

This unit equips learners with knowledge and skills in performing operation and maintenance of centrifugal pumps and other types of rotating machinery. articipants will be introduced to the basic centrifugal pump’s operation and maintenance requirements. Centrifugal pumps are usually the majority rotating equipment in many facilities and their maintenance requirements are similar to many other types of rotating machinery.

 

 

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, the learners should be able to:

·         Prepare for basic maintenance works on rotating equipment

·         Assemble/Dissemble rotating equipment in the accordance with work instructions

  

Target Participants

This course is designed for entry level employees to perform basic maintenance work for rotating equipment in the process industry or anyone seeking a basic understanding of rotating equipment maintenance.

 

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

Learners are assumed to be able to:

·         Interpret basic technical drawings and technical specifications

·         Read, speak, and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 4

·         Manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 5

 

Learning Methodologies

Theory and practical lesson, group learning activity, written and practical assessment.

Certification

Upon completion of the course and passing the written and practical assessment, a Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be issued to the participant.
